When I first started watching fighting games, it was very appealing even though I had no idea why one person was winning and the other was losing. Eventually the blanks filled in, but flashy visuals, popoff moments, come backs, sudden settings of momentum, etc make fighting games fun to watch even if you don't know the mechanics.
