Yeah but people feel sorry for blacks because of slavery and segregation (even though Mexicans dealt with segregation too, even though there were WHITE slaves). I think it's just because history, movies, the news all make black people out to be the victims in those cases, and no one else. Nobody mentions the Japanese facing racism and being rounded up in camps in WW2, nobodoy mentions the Native Americans having their land stolen, nobody mentions the fact that the Mexicans worked in the cotton fields as well and still do a lot of cheap labor for rich white people. In our culture, black people are the only victims because of what the media and our history books say. Because of that, black people get to play the race card, but as Latinos, we have nothing to back us up.
I learned about all of these things in school. And there's plenty of people of all races online who bring these issues up or otherwise elevate them.
