If these people were given some status in life and made more money to own better stuff and someone showed up looking like they may destroy it of course you'd have the mentality to protect it. It's like a rich person owning a fancy car and some low life person spits on it but doesn't realize someone worked hard to achieve it. Envy and fucking jealousy.
