Putting her through hell to rescue what was once an enemy. Confronting her greatest phobia. Finding her Dad's body after having been brutally killed for the crime of trying to save humanity. Having the guilt of what she did to Joel very evidently weigh on her throughout. This sentiment I've seen that people are "finding excuses" to sympathise with Abby has to be the most puzzling thing of all.
