I will give you my theory tho. These are good people who are in a moment of confusion because they are realizing the awful crimes that happen to others while they have a veil of safety that they are just now realizing. They feel guilty that they didn't realize it sooner and this guy is using their confusion and want to make up for it to go on power trips and make them submissive to him. Under everything, he is one of the worst kind of people that exists and he is only limited to this cause he's a fuckin loser. If he had more power he would probably be doing horrific things to people that would eventually land him in prison once the walls closed in on him. That's my take.
