For whatever breed you plan on getting, you might want to check up on common maladies. For example, German Shepards tend to get hip dysplasia so when they get older, that could be a concern. Bulldogs are a shining example of the evil that is inherent in mankind and have a whole bunch of health problems like barely being able to breathe. If they shed a lot, you're going to have to either spend a lot of time brushing them or taking them to a groomer. If you get something like Maltese, they tend to have a lot of tear stains that you will have to clean or once again take them to a groomer. If you travel for work a lot and nobody is at home, you're most likely going to have to lodge them which can get costly.
