As a whole, the original is still better. ...but I will say, the Remake's battle system has a level of depth that I enjoyed more than the classic system. Having an ATB meter AND real-time combat with different combat styles is kind of brilliant, and adds a level of strategy and preparation that's absent from the original. FF doesn't get enough credit for actually trying to innovate.
