Jak & Daxter 1, Sly Cooper and Psychonauts are probably the best games of the genre that generation, all of which are obviously excellent games, but in terms of actual platforming mechanics are not remotely on par. The same could be said of Ratchet & Clank's sequels, though I would call those shooters before I called them platformers. I consider all of these games better packages than Sunshine, to be clear.
