I don't condone running anyone over but i'm curious why when a cop ran over protesters it was ok because "maybe they had to get somewhere" or "maybe the protesters shouldn't be standing there", why aren't the same people extending that same logic here? The cops blocked the road and were shooting rubber bullets and gas cans in the direction the car came from.

Because the State grants the cops the right to be in the streets to best maintain law and command orders.
Whereas protestors aren't allowed to gather in streets.

The First Amendment does not provide the right to conduct an assembly at which there is a clear and present danger of riot, disorder, or interference with traffic on public streets, or other immediate threat to public safety or order.[13] Statutes that prohibit people from assembling and using force or violence to accomplish unlawful purposes are permissible under the First Amendment.[14]

Why is it so hard for some folks to understand?
