I said to myself, How can I try to show people that not every cop is bad when shit like this is going on? People are angry and they should be. People are protesting and they should be. When the rioting and the looting started in Minneapolis I thought, this isn't right but riots are the voice of the oppressed. Still I didn't say anything because I don't have a solution.

The restaurant my mom manages was attacked downtown and I'm so angry I can't sleep. All the "merchandise can be replaced lives can't" people....sure that's true but what about the innocent people you are hurting. How does that support George Floyd? My mom is one of the kindest and most caring people I know. When told her restaurant had to close because of COVID-19 she didn't think "How am I gonna pay my bills"
HER FIRST STATEMENT WAS HOW IS MY STAFF GONNA FEED THIER KIDS. That's the kind of person she is. She took all the food in her store and gave it to her staff to take home despite the cost to the restaurant. She would cook take-home meals for them because they were out of work. My mom employs a lot of members of the minority community, single moms, people that have made mistakes and are trying to become better people, college students. Everyone. My mom hires everyone and she gives them a chance. Sometimes she gives coffee to the homeless. She cares about everyone.
On holidays my mom takes money out of her own pocket and cooks for her staff on HER DAY OFF and feed them. Her staff is like a second family to her and her staff loves her. When she found out her restaurant could open back up she was just excited to call her employees and get them back to work. She cares about everyone.
My mom spent everyday this week cleaning and prepping her restaurant so she could open and get the people she feels responsible back to work. So to hear my mom crying because rioters smashed in her store front and burnt the building next to hers....It makes me angry. So now until the restaurant is fixed, my mom and the same community you are advocating for has to go even longer without work.

And don't even get me started about my friends in Atlanta having to evacuate their apartments because of riot fires. Thankfully they are safe.
We want change and justice for George Floyd. But stop hurting people that are trying to make a difference and lead by example. You want to know how riots discredit a movement...this is how.
