This is society's way of telling such shitstains their behavior is unacceptable. We're going through a societal paradigm shift where power is shifting from elitist assholes like this and into the hands of the common folk. She literally tried to emphasize that an "African American man" was threatening her. Any attempt to frame her actions other than as absolutely reprehensible and unreasonable are flat out wrong. She deserves everything she is getting. If the justice system will not punish people for doing shit like this then they at least should have to deal the consequences of their actions socially. It shouldn't haunt someone for rest of their life, barring they haven't ruthlessly murdered an innocent person. As soon as you cross that line, it's over for you imo. Racism is terrible and so is being an asshole, but neither are incurable diseases. Given the chance to improve, people can, will and do rehabilitate. I would hope that's what people want. That is to say, i would hope people would want others to do better and be better, not be forever buried and crushed by what they've done (above example of murder withstanding). I'm not saying don't punish people, as you need consequences for actions. No one would learn otherwise.
