I have my grandfather's shotgun and my dad's old .22, both of which I inherited. Then I have a Mossberg 12-gauge that's good general-purpose (I view shotguns as practical firearms) and a S&W .357 which is my trail gun (you do, occasionally, run into bears hiking. Might not stop one, but might dissuade it). I don't shoot all that often, but I do take them out to the farm and keep in practice a couple times a month, a lot of the cousins so.
