Ive heard many people say the movie is far better and have seen an absolute shit ton of hate for the comic.

That's because the people making the comic decided, "Hey, we've given our heroes shades of grey and moral ambiguity before, what if we went the extra mile and made some of our most famous and beloved characters into irredeemable monsters? And while we're at it we can subject the ones who don't become corrupt to horrible, sadistic torture?"

I think it does deal with some interesting issues but it is absolutely NO fun to read.
