Depends on what you mean by influential, I guess. Like there are a ton of niche action games that are "soul clones", but how many of them are selling 10-20 million copies like the games that Skyrim influenced? Skyrim is much more influential on the big scale than Souls was.

Dark souls is used as a point of reference EVERYWHERE. we've seen crash bandicoot and a golf game compared to dark souls in reviews and promotional material. we've seen Elon musk tweeting that "Twitter is the Dark Souls of social media". its literally everywhere.

Skyrim sold a lot more. but Dark Souls has had far more influence in game design. you'll find games that ssemingly are nothing like dark souls where the dev has said it was influenced by dark souls (one random example being Journey)
