Im convinced the original FF7 went waaaaaaaaay over everyones heads because theres no reason why old VII stans should think the narrative changes in Remake are warranted or good. There were changes to be made, and FF7 at its heart is a timeless story and it would be the PERFECT time to really lean into corporation bad stuff and they just... didnt?
