It's the same for a lot of computer programs that have industry uses. I still use an old copy of Office 2010 that my parents have on CD just to avoid an Office subscription. At least with stuff like Word...it really doesn't matter if it's 10 years old, it's still solid.

I think this is something smaller companies do too - at least at my work, it's common practice to save docs to 97-2003 compatibility format if you're gonna send it out. Just so you don't get a request back asking for a save to an older version.

and I can't think of single reason to ever upgrade from office 2010. And if I have to use a modern office, I'll use google docs which is just as good in most cases. The only thing I don't like is office 2010 can't be made into an app on windows 10 which can sometimes be annoying as you can't set it to be the default .doc opener, at least I can't figure it out.
