Topic	When playing a big long RPG, do you bother getting the best equipment?

I speak from experience because once upon a time Id make it a point to do everything that I can in a game regardless of how I feel about the game. It is fine with timeless classics and games I enjoy playing even if it has an obnoxious side quest here and there that has like 0 entertainment value. But games that you find a chore to play can make you absolutely miserable if you are making a point to do everything in it. The moment I shed off that bad habit, I had infinitely better times with games good or bad.
