The amount of people that would have heard this, let alone interpreted it as "inject disinfectant " as a twisted paraphrase, would be significantly less if the media wasnt going to extremes to spread it. This parallels the Tide Pods thing where it wasn't widespread until the news ran hard with it and then cases spiked even higher. I'm not defending Trump's stupid remarks but this was preemptively blown way out of proportion.

While I get what you're saying, it's not the media's job to cover for the president's oopsies and not report stuff he said/did. Nor should it be, we should have a president with the basic sense to not tell people to consume/inject hazardous chemicals. Where would the line be drawn exactly, on the curbing of basic freedom of the press?

And ultimately, I'd rather have everyone know what a dangerous idiot the leader of the free world is so they're aware and vote him out of office, than to keep people ignorant of that information and then he coasts to a 2nd term to do even more damage.
