Back in the day they packed handbooks that gave generic explainations. With nintendo they change the characters alot or retcon them into different characters. So kirby originally was a star knight character that was supposed to be a guardian character. Then they talk about the circle of knights had a betrayal and was destroyed (metaknight).

So yeah kirby is like superman. There is a general set of rules but he gains or loses power for the sake of plot.

Now as far as his biology ??? Its hard to guess
