From what I've heard there's a new law that prevents people from getting evicted for the next 6 months.
I'm currently waiting for centrelink because I was ex-hospitality and lost work. Don't know how long until I get my first payment.

The thing which irks me is the number of people taking advantage of it. Having tenants outright say they aren't going to pay rent for six months because the law stops you from evicting them, yet still being able to pay for everything from private school fees to other "essentials" is a joke for landlords with mortgages/strata bills/land tax/etc. It's not like they automatically stop either, and removing the ability for landlords to enforce their rights or at least enforce the contract is pathetic. Maybe this was all just a ploy to help bring down the housing market prices.
