Star Trek does this as well. You have the power to make a story about literally anything you can imagine literally anywhere you can think of and then like every 4th episode they go to 20th century Earth for no fucking reason.

At least going back to 1930s Earth made it seem kinda fantasy-like in its own way. It's funny to think that was only three decades past when the series was first filmed.

Not if they wanted to visit the royal city, but most of the extras looked like villagers in a Renaissance fair.

The movie could've filled that time by visiting a straw hut village, a forest, and a cave. The real issue is the loss of product placement. And that could've been resolved by having the world-hopping Gwildor show off his treasures from Earth: a Casio keyboard, a pair of Adidas, and some cans of Pepsi.

Drago himself disrespects this movie. :(
