I really don't understand why people even try to make a point that the flu kills more people. It blatantly ignores the fact that tens of millions of people get the flu every year while we just recently crossed 100,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19.

That's why mortality rate is the important factor to compare when talking about the risk of having a particular virus.

corona virus has many possibilities of asymptomatic situations and many where people arent confirmed cases and are self quarantining themselves.

if we actually had plenty of test kits Id bet the cases would increase but the mortality rate would inversely decrease because its not very fatal to anyone under 60 or without underlying conditions.

thats why people are saying this is basically the flu. It still needs to be take seriously because of how contagious it is.

but to say its deadlier than the flu is premature.
