You can't go to war with a concept. War on drugs, war on terrorism, etc.

Our goal was to get Bin Laden and we accomplished that a long time ago. That's when the troops should've started coming home. You can't realistically occupy the Middle East or enforce democracy. Nor can you rid the world of enemies. There's always gonna be a potential danger out there somewhere.

We should've pulled out long ago. I won't say that I'm apathetic about what happens to the people there, but we can't police the world. It's not our nation to try and govern. All we can do is go in and take out the bad guys if they threaten us. We did that already. It's not within our power to say who will be in charge of Afghanistan when we leave or to stay there and occupy it indefinitely.
