It's because Ibuprofen is an NSAID, and acetaminophen isn't. They each get used by different parts of the body, so you can't hurt yourself by taking a dose of both of them. I actually gave myself gastritis by eating five to ten Aleve(an NSAID) every day for over ten years because of my leg. Once you almost rot your own guts out, you either learn everything you can to prevent it from happening again or you die.
