true! That's a very positive way to look at it

What keeps you as a security guard? I've had this job for about a month now, I don't see myself being there longer than a year. I like it, but it doesn't pay very well.

I've been doing this job for exactly 13 years this month - much, much longer than I wanted to. Over the past decade, I've tried entering several different careers, which all failed for vaious reasons. Lately I've come to acknowledge that even though I have the skill and intellect to do better, most of those reasons relate to my severe lack of concentration. I've visited the doctor about it, who has ruled out biological causes and referred me to (insurance-covered) psychological help. I just might make use of that, after I'm done moving.

Meanwhile, being a security guard is the one thing I can do and make enough money with to live on. It's not the best, but also not that bad that I loathe having to do it. But yeah, it's definitely not something one should keep doing for one's entire career. I turn 33 tomorrow. I seriously hope to have improved my prospects before I turn 34.
