The only reason you don't consider them the same is because of the rally proceeding the Charlottesville attack. Obviously this didn't take place at a rally, but the guy still attempted to murder a bunch of peaceful People gathered in one place explicitly for their political alignment. You want me to say that the rally was terrible? Of course it was. Do you want me to say that the people at that rally were awful? Of course they were.
