The fact Luthor was later up to something didn't mean Superman's moves were right at the time as it did nothing but vilify him and give more credibility to Luthor, making it harder to stop him in the long run. The Democrats refuse to accept how their preconceived and well know bias against Trump works against them. They're trying to go "moral stand" to people that see them as jumping the gun, and now missed and made Trump stronger, and themselves not the best alternative in either event. It's hardly the only time they've lost the game because they cry "morally right" so much they forget the rules of the game they're playing and other elements of the big picture. Long run, this will hurt more than help by November, and as for the blemish in the hotory books, that won't mean much if the partisan bickering gets in there as well. Not worth it.
