College is probably the best time in your life to create deep friendships. It gets so much harder when you are older. If you find yourself unable to make friends, take inventory:
Are you negative all the time? Negativity pushes people away quickly.
How are your social skills? If you come across as awkward or desperate for attention, that's a huge turn off even if you are a nice guy. Everyone is kind of awkward at your age, but try and beef up your social awareness.
Are you engaged in clubs and outside activities? Class is fine for basic conversations and seeing people, but you need to go further to build actual relationships with people.
Your expectations might not be realistic. It's normal in life for friends to grow apart. I don't know your exact age, but by the time you graduate, you'll have probably lost contact with everyone you used to know in high school aside from a good buddy or two. Later on when you get a career going, you'll make friends in a city and eventually leave them behind.
Your expectations might not be realistic #2. Even when you have a good friend, unless they live close by, you won't see or hear from them all the time. They are your friend, not your wife or girlfriend.
