To be fair Jonathan lost his final battle and Joseph in a way lost since Kars actually achieved his goal and became the perfect being. Joseph only won because of that volcano ass pull.
Jonathan's final fight was a draw; he dies, but traps Dio with him for 100 years. Joseph flatout beat Kars; doesn't matter what Kars did when Joseph literally sent his ass to space for all eternity. Asspulls are basic Shonen.
