He was an FBI agent. And the gun went off when he went to pick it up, because he grabbed the trigger. Dude was also fired IIRC.

Modern glocks have both a trigger safety and a drop safety, which makes it extremely odd that this one discharged like this.
Not just modern glocks, but all glocks have these features, in addition to a firing pin safety. Unless the guy had messed with the mechanism that blocks the striker from firing, or messed with the firing pin safety, it's unlikely that either mechanisms failed. I'm not saying the guy intentionally shot himself and his son, but the chances that a glock just happened to fire when dropping a few feet is extremely unlikely, unless the safety mechanics were tampered with.
