I wouldn't be surprised if there was a direct correlation between the rate of platinum trophies in a game and the number of multiplayer trophy requirements.

I pretty much never do multiplayer trophies. I make an exception for games where the MP trophies aren't competitive by nature, but the more common crap like kill all the enemies four times before dying can go screw itself. I wouldn't get those with millions of hours of tries.
