That isn't how it works and white people need to stop with the I had a long lost Native ancestor routine. If you aren't a member of a tribe, didn't grow up in that culture, and don't appear Native you aren't Native and shouldn't be claiming such. It just makes things harder for actual Natives. And there are tribal members with no genetically Native ancestors. It's a culture that you grow up in, not a checkbox. No one ever looked at Warren and thought she was anything but white. She never received discrimination and she never took part in Native culture.
