You can enjoy the movies on their own, (you got your high fantasy in 1, your mystery/romance in 2, your space opera in 3) and that's totally valid. But the deepest joy for a dedicated Star Wars fan... the funnest part of spending time with this franchise is seeing the connections and parallels between both trilogies. "This is where the fun begins," Anakin and Luke's choices, Palpatine's manipulations, character tics between mother/daughter, father/son, brother/brother, on and on and on.... It's not just memes. There's a depth to the original Star Wars saga that Joe Blow never fucking recognized.
