I don't mind increasing difficulty, but the game just has a problem with how they go about it: crappy night battles, bosses that are 9000 feet away with sniper capabilities, bosses that don't have any tells for their main attacks, introducing "advancements" that rarely help players (one-way slopes, fairweather heliports, time-wasting encirclement tactics), etc. Some may find this entertaining, but it's such weak, artificial difficulty, it always feels like mediocre design to me. Honestly, it feels like they painted themselves in a corner a little bit.

As for nerfing difficulty for events, if there's five chapters, is having the first three in the Lv80-90 range really that bad? I know most of us have tons of Lv100 units and can blow through a lot of situations, but for n00benheimers still using Sten and other freebie units, it's pretty depressing not to be able to participate in events without ridiculous time investment. (I don't think many n00bs got through Ch. 2 of some previous events for that very reason.) Hell, I still remember just BARELY being able to do Operation Cube when I first started, and that wasn't even a fun event, haha.
