Math isn't 100% solved. It's a philosophy as much as a science. There are disagreements abound. You need only reference the following question for evidence:

"Does 0.9999... = 1?"

People disagree heavily and there's really no perfect way to prove one answer over another. With that in mind, depending on definitions and your personal perspective, the 'real answer' to your question can be a lot of different things.

If you want one specific, precise, ultimate answer, then you need to very specifically define the parameters of your question.
The .999... thing is trolling. It's undeniably equal to 1. You can find tons of proofs, many of which are on reputable sites.
