People speculate that the divorce was just a front for them to get away with cashing out legally before the recession where all stocks are going to soaring down the toilet. Bezos didn't have the affair scandal on his hands and he tried to cash out that much money from his share holding, he could be tried for insider trading and/or it'll cost more as Amazon's share prices would plummet due to the market's burst of worry in response to him dumping shares into circulation.
