The idea of satan as an "evil" entity that people worship was created by the Catholic religion during the middle ages. There's no such thing as a "satanist".

It's just crazy. You'd have to be insane to believe any of this is at all tied together. But it is human nature to try to ascribe meaning and structure to an otherwise chaotic world. Makes everything easier to digest if you have something to point at and say "that's why this is the way it is". Hence the whole idea of a "god" in the first place. Much easier to accept than the idea that, sometimes, shit just happens.

Whether you think satan is real or not. The concept of pure evil and submitting oneselves to pure evil and trickery exists and the things I've mentioned are involved/related to that. Abandoning morals, and sumbitting to evil and spirits and using organized trickery to gain control over various organizations over the world
