Palpatine explained that in the senate, so all Jedi were all to be captured. and its an Empire. They control the narrative. They tell everyone the Jedi dont exist anymore, the Empire had resources to do that. It was a fascist system. Plus there were only like 10,000 Jedi in the galaxy before the purge.
