And considering how he's trying to move the church away from being a gluttonous money-hungry monstrosity and actually tried follow the teachings of that Christ fella (who is apparently a big part of the whole "Christianity" thing), as well as holding pedophilic priests accountable instead of shuffling them around, yes. He's much better.


Apart from the pedophilic priests, which can be considered a "recent" issue, has the church not operated as what you have described for most of it's existence? Certainly the Crusades aren't a period that fit your MO of being Christ-like, but when else/what other periods has it been any different?
