It was already obvious they got scared about the backlash which is why they went back to Abrams. He's the safest choice. As a huge Star Wars fan, I still highly enjoyed this movie bc I just love being in that universe. But it is unfortunate that we didn't get more payoff from the interesting ideas of TLJ.
