Most jobs in the military aren't in direct combat. Especially if you go Navy or Air Force. Navy has a lot of ITs, for example. They get some basic fundamentals training at A School, then on-the-job training at Sea or Shore duties, they can use NavyCOOL to earn a variety of certifications, or tuition assistance/GI Bill to go for a degree.
