I've worked and seen quite a few co-workers have babies...anyone who took more than 6 months never came back. mostly because anything longer doesn't "hold" their position. Personally I think it's counter-productive to an economy to have regressive maternity benefits (seriously a few months at a time compared to a 40+ year career) but hey as much as I dislike Trump or the current US political climate, this is a step in the right direction for Americans.
