I never get real reasons just "it's teh worst"ok, I do agree that complaints about DS2 are exaggerated. depending what you're looking for, 2 is arguably the best of the three. it has by far the most character variability, and is also a much longer game, especially taking DLC into account. I didn't like it at first either. It has easily the most frustrating combat. The level design part I don't care about all that much. Its levels feel "video gamey" whereas DS1 and DS3 have such artistically amazing levels, but it's not that big a deal. the first half of DS1 had the "intricate pathways that interconnect areas in unexpected ways" thing, but it's not that important (maybe artistically).
