woah, we had a very similar setup with current events and newsweek in my southeastern missouri high school. also had to take a goverment class in senior year which was more broad than just the constitution (which i would have rather taken come to think of it).

the class was considered one of the highlights in our school. it was not an honors class, so everybody had to take it. the guy in charge was the school's athletic trainer, but he was extremely smart. he was one of those guys that had a way of even getting troubled students to take a class serious. he was super strict but even handed, regardless of who broke the rules. his middle daughter was in my class and sat right in front of me. she didn't get any better treatment than the borderline criminal types.

Senior year did not require any history or civics. I took AP us history senior year, and only 1 other person was in the course.

Great class and a great year for it (may you live in interesting times....)

edit

freshman - US history until the great depression or so
sophomore - World History, and a course in financial literacy
junior - current events/constituion
Senior - AP US or Economics (both optional)

that was our setup
