Have you seen episode 19 fight? Because even if you just read the manga it's basically mandatory to watch that fight scene.

And you're not exactly wrong about it being "generic" shounen so far, but what really makes it for me is just how wholesome and kind-but-not-a-pushover Tanjiro is.
