The Nordic, I assume that what it would be called, languages are little off my radar. Well since you say Nordic, there are quite different languages. Swedish and Norweigan are quite similar and easy to understand between eachother in speech and writing. Danish for me is hard to understand in speech but easy in writing. Finnish is a whole another language stem, nothing to do with most of the European languages.
