I didn't read the article, but isn't it possible that the drivers need their own bathrooms so they can be in an out more efficiently, as opposed to losing precious minutes and/or possibly an entire route because the toilets are taken by corporate employees? It's most likely to protect them from having to pay benefits to drivers because they're not employees and this was to be used as evidence of such. Which is ironic because the whole point of not making drivers employees is to dodge all the regulations and special licenses that taxi drivers must follow. The moment drivers become employees, they can no longer actually do their job because they're now unlicensed cab drivers.
