They were a popular act in the 80s, but they have no relevance to today. Just because something was popular in the past doesn't mean they're of elevated importance to anyone outside of that context. It's embarrassing for a black person and a rapper not to know Tupac because he's literally considered one of the goats of the genre Yachty performs in and was active in the decade he was born in.
