| Topic | honestly, is it that big a deal Billie Eillish doesn't know who Van Halen is? |
| GhettoFlip 12/03/19 4:47:03 AM #1: | I'm over a decade older than she is and listen to a good amount of classic rock and the only things I know about Van Halen are: -formed in Pasadena, CA (only remember this because I'm from LA) -members Eddie Van Halen, his brother ___ Van Halen, and David Lee Roth, later replaced by Sammy Hagar that's it as far as their biography goes. i only know these because as a kid I used to watch those VH1 restrospectives (Behind the Music, I Love the 80s, etc) music-wise, I can't even name a single Van Halen album. I know the names of 5 Van Halen songs -- Jump, Hot for Teacher, Running with the Devil, Eruption, and Hot for Teacher. Out of those, the only one I actually "know know" is Jump. I can hum that synth line and familiar with the "Jump!" in the chorus. Those other 4, literally only know the titles. I just listened to them right now and none of them sound familiar, except for that little riff before the chorus in Panama, weirdly enough.
