Star Ocean 3:The whole world was a videogame! This wouldn't be so bad if it was a stand alone game but it kind of makes all of the other games connected to it pointless.

Star Ocean 2 was my favorite game, but that twist killed all my love for it.

How did that twist stop SO2 existing? And being enjoyable on its own?

Because everything being a video game meant everything that happened in the other games didnt matter it was all scripted. The characters I liked werent real in anyway. I mean yes it is a video game, but it is like reading a book and near the end it tells you hey everything you just read is fake these characters dont even matter in their own reality.

It kills all the emotional attachment/immersion I had with the characters and story as instead of being living relatable beings in their own story/universe, they are instead mindless automatons acting out a script even in their own reality.
